Archaeological Forts of Haryana

Archaeological forts and museums have a historically significant place. A fort is not only a structure made of bricks and stones, but also displays the valor of a ruler. Similarly, museums are our heritage while keeping our heritage safe. In ancient times, the forts built by the kings were considered a symbol of their almighty fortifications. The historical significance of these forts still exists today. Shukra Niti, the major text of the sage Shukracharya, has mention of the seven major organs of the state in which the fort has also been included in the category of special organs. The Fort of Hansi

  • The fort of Hansi was built by Tomar ruler Anangpal I. This fort is also called the fort of Prithviraj Chauhan. This historic fort of Haryana was under the jurisdiction of the Mughals, Sikhs and British.
  • George Thomas made Hansi the capital of his empire and the fortress of administrative headquarters. It is a crescent shaped fort which consists of stable, step-well and masjids. A mint was also established here during the reign of George Thomas.
  • The Fort of Asigarh

  • The fort of Asigarh situated in Hansi was built by Prithviraj Chauhan in the 12th century. This fort is also called the fort of the sword.
  • Prithviraj Chauhan also built a fort at Gohana.
